Self-Employment: Myths, Uncertainties and Realities

Recent changes in the world of work have hit the headlines, with the media informing us that we could all soon be ‘Uberized’. The end of ‘waged work’ has been predicted, and even the ‘end of work’ as such. As a consequence of the difficulty of finding waged employment, of revised expectations and of greater legal and regulatory flexibility around self-employed working, we are supposed, then, to be seeing an explosion in the numbers of the self-employed.
