Rethinking Japanese otherness
Japanese society has often been shown as consisting of a very integrated, consensual and relatively closed community vis-à-vis foreigners. But the younger generation – although they remain very affected by the positivist American model – are much more open to the “other Asias” with whom cultural relations are being developed, but not without a certain ambiguity.
