FOURASTIÉ Jean
French Economist (1907-1990), who coined the term ‘Trente Glorieuses’ to describe the period of prosperity in France between the end of the Second World War and the first oil shock.
His empirical work, spanning more than half a century, has demonstrated the importance of technical progress and productivity in explaining contemporary economic growth, the profound transformation in lifestyles brought about by industrial development and the mastery of nature, and the revolution that these changes require in order to harness material progress for a fairer and more responsible society.
