BASTIAT Frédéric
Frédéric Bastiat was a French Economist (1801-1850), Founder in 1846 of an Association for the Freedom of Trade, and Author of a series of pamphlets, Les Sophismes économiques, in which he railed against customs legislation. Bastiat is considered to be an advocate of ‘optimistic’ liberalism, based on a belief in a providential order.
