At the dawn of her second term, which began in late 2024, the global context has changed substantially. War is raging in the heart of Europe; Donald Trump is back and disrupting international trade with his protectionist policies and deal-centred diplomacy; and the situation has been growing ever more acrimonious in the Middle East since the 7 October 2023 attacks and the Israeli reprisals that are decimating the Palestinian population. In such a context, it is becoming imperative to give concrete expression to the European geopolitical ambition highlighted five years ago. In this European Chronicle, Jean-Fran\u00e7ois Drevet examines the way this might happen in the medium-to-long term with respect to three major neighbouring countries that are of significant importance on the international stage and will continue to be so: the UK, Turkey and Russia.
