He is Chairman of the Institut des Hautes Études pour la Science et la Technologie (IHEST), the Institut Français des Relations Internationales (IFRI) and a Member of the Boards of Directors of Lafarge (of which he is Honorary Chairman), Total, DuPont and Atco. He was appointed a Member of the Steering Committee of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology in July 2008.
